The BASS is an new imaging survey with the collaboration between NAOC and Steward Observatory. It uses the 2.3m Bok telescope to survey an area of about 5400 deg² in the north Galactic cap. The photometric system includes the SDSS g and DES r bands. The expected depths for 5σ point sources and Galactic extinction correction are 24.0 mag for g band and 23.4 mag for r band, respectively. The observation is expected to be completed in 2018. We will release the data almost every year. The BASS is also one of three optical imaging surveys that are designated for target selections of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). The other two surveys are the Dark Energy Camera Legacy Survey (DECaLS) and the MOSAIC z-band Legacy Survey (MzLS). The BASS and MzLS cover the same area of about 5500 deg² in the north Galactic cap, while the DECaLS cover an area of about 9000 deg² along the equator in both south and north. The DESI team will also reduce the data from all three surveys. The latest data release (DR4) include the BASS and MzLS data taken before 2016 July. The BASS team reduce the BASS and MzLS data by independent pipelines. The latest data release is DR2.

Whatever level of the BASS data you used, we hope you add the following acknowledgement in your paper/project.
The BASS is a collaborative program between the National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Science and Steward Observatory of the University of Arizona. It is a key project of the Telescope Access Program (TAP), which has been funded by the National Astronomical Observatories of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (the Strategic Priority Research Program “The Emergence of Cosmological Structures” Grant No. XDB09000000), and the Special Fund for Astronomy from the Ministry of Finance. The BASS is also supported by the External Cooperation Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Grant No. 114A11KYSB20160057) and Chinese National Natural Science Foundation (Grant No. 11433005). Data resources are supported by Chinese Astronomical Data Center (CAsDC).
